VOİCEPRESS reports that the statement came from Thomas De Waal, a British journalist, a senior researcher at Carnegie Europe and an expert on the Caucasus.
De Waal said another factor that shocked the Armenian society was the fact that the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan did nothing to prepare the people, and even spoke of victory a few hours before the signing of the agreement.
De Waal stressed that it was enough for Azerbaijan to take control of Shusha to declare victory:
“Azerbaijanis have many reasons to rejoice in this agreement. The transfer of 7 regions to the control of Azerbaijan will be a moral stimulus for the country. This is also a victory for Turkey because this conflict is a matter of special importance for Ankara and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”
