When strength is combined with character, true champions are born. One of such rising stars of Uzbekistan is the young athlete Huseynov Emrah Mehdi oglu, with Azerbaijani blood flowing in his veins. His mission is to raise the flag of his homeland to the heights of world sports. Born in 2006, Emrah has been distinguished by his calm character, prudence and inner core since childhood. He studied at secondary school No. 161 until the 7th grade, and in 2019 he took a fateful step – he entered the College of Olympic Reserves of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was here that his athletic will began to harden, his struggle with himself and the path to great victories began. Having graduated from college with excellent results in 2024, Emrah continued his education at the State University of Physical Education, where he opened a new page not only as an athlete, but also as a future teacher, mentor and, perhaps, a future coach of new champions.
Amrah has repeatedly won city and regional tournaments, and has repeatedly climbed the podium of the Uzbekistan championship. However, his fame has long gone beyond the borders of the country. Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey – in these countries, the name of Amrah Huseynov has already become known thanks to his brilliant victories and iron will.

“I easily defeated my opponents in the USA”

The tournaments held in the USA were a real test. In 2022, he became the silver and bronze medalist of prestigious international competitions held in Pennsylvania and New York. Already in 2025, at the Combat Spartan tournament in Florida (May 23 – June 2), Amrah became the champion in the 61 kg weight category and won a bronze medal in the team competition.
Amrah Huseynov shared his impressions of his fights at the Combat Spartan tournament: “This is the second time I have participated in wrestling competitions in the USA. We had prepared very seriously for this tournament. I had studied the tactics of US athletes in particular. I also knew the opponents I would face in advance. That is why I had learned about them. I knew from where and how they would attack by watching their fights. In short, I had prepared counter-tricks for myself against the attacking tactics of my opponents. That is why I defeated my opponents very easily”.

“Amrah is one of our promising wrestlers with a bright future”

His father, Mehdi Huseynov, is also a well-known wrestler in Uzbekistan. He was a coach of the wrestling section at the Azerbaijan National Cultural Center in Uzbekistan. His father, Mehdi Huseynov, says that he is always proud of his son’s successes: “Every achievement of Amrah is a source of great pride for me. I am happy that he has reached this level with his determination, hard work and will. Every time I see him on the podium, I feel as if I have won. He is the pride of not only our family, but also our homeland.”
In general, Azerbaijani athletes in Uzbekistan have always been distinguished by their successes. Mais Ibadov, a well-known wrestler in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, a three-time world champion, is one of such athletes. He has participated as an honorary guest in many of Amrah’s competitions. Mais Ibadov said that Amrah is one of our promising wrestlers: “Despite his age, Amrah has already shown his potential. His technique, physical fitness, and most importantly, his determination to win are indicators that he will achieve great success in the future. We must always support athletes like him. Amrah is one of our promising wrestlers with a bright future.”

Amrah is not just an athlete, but a person with a clear life position. His dream is to raise the flag of Uzbekistan at the Olympic Games, become an Honored Athlete of the Republic and contribute to the development of sports among young people. He tries to be a useful citizen of his country, without forgetting basic human values.
