Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization (ADSAYO), a winner of the “International Initiatives Related to COP29” grant competition jointly announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic and the Agency of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has launched a series of international events within the framework of the project.
As part of the “Combating Climate Change: Promoting Global Solidarity for COP29” project, ADSAYO, with the financial support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Agency for State Support to NGOs, will organize various international conferences, roundtables, panel discussions, and other interactive events in collaboration with its foreign and national partners. These events will address global environmental challenges, climate action, active youth participation, educational opportunities, and sustainable cooperation in the fight against the impacts of climate change.
ADSAYO plans to hold two international conferences titled “Global Pathways to Green Cities and Coastal Areas: Perspectives on Climate Resilience and Community Justice” and “Youth Activism and Educational Opportunities in Combating Climate Change” with five international organizations at the COP29 Green Zone from November 15-22, 2024. The conferences will feature presentations, speeches, and reports by NGO leaders, experts, and environmental activists from various countries.
For one week, NGO leaders, experts, and environmental activists from 14 countries will join their counterparts from Azerbaijan to exchange views, build networks, and advocate for ongoing action on global environmental and climate change challenges. Discussions will focus on efforts to promote eco-volunteering, the green world agenda, green participation, and supporting Azerbaijan’s global initiatives for a sustainable planet.
The events are expected to conclude with the adoption of the Baku Declaration, calling for the support of the COP29 legacy. Additionally, plans will be made to establish and sustain a Cooperation and Partnership Network for “Active Green Participation in Combating Climate Change.”
